Foiled Again, who captured the 2009 edition of the Battle Of Lake Erie, has been installed as the favourite in Saturday’s $100,000 edition at Northfield Park

. Defending champ Hypnotic Blue Chip is the second choice.

The 26th edition of the Battle is carded as Race 11 on the 13-race card that starts at 7 p.m. Battle of Lake Erie post time is 11 p.m.

Owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and JJK Stables, Foiled Again drew post one for the third consecutive year and will likely become the first horse in the 26-year history of the Battle of Lake Erie to be the betting favourite for three straight years. If Foiled Again prevails, he also will be just the second Battle horse to win the event in non-consecutive years. Foiled Again has career earnings of $2.5 million, including nearly $500,000 this year. Director of Racing Dave Bianconi assigned him morning line odds of 2-1. Trainer Ron Burke will call on Matt Kakaley, who reined the pacer to victory in 2009, to drive.

Starting alongside the favorite is defending Battle champ Hypnotic Blue Chip, trained by Kevin McDermott, at odds of 5-2. Dave Palone, the leading driver at The Meadows near Pittsburgh, pilots for owner Francis Azur and will get his charge over $1.5 million in career earnings with a win or second-place finish.

The third millionaire in the field is Giddy Up Lucky. Trained by Boyd Hudson, Jr. for Baron Racing and VIP Internet Stable, he will be driven by Eric Goodell. He steered him to victory in his last two races at New York’s Yonkers Raceway. Giddy Up Lucky is listed at 9-2 in the morning line.
