The first set of $50,000 Open events for older horses created under a multi-track agreement between the Meadowlands Racetrack, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and Harrah’s Philadelphia will be raced this weekend.
Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will host a $50,000 Open Pace on Saturday, July 7 and a $50,000 Open Trot on Sunday, July 8. The entry box closes 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 for the Saturday program and 9 a.m. Thursday, July 5 for the Sunday card.
The three tracks agreed to alternate the dates of their Free For All races in order to generate more buzz and betting on the top caliber horses. The Meadowlands will host the next event, a $50,000 Open Pace, on Meadowlands Pace Night, Saturday, July 14. Entries are due Tuesday, July 10.
