Tioga To Host Sire Stakes Friday

A trio of $37,966 New York Sire Stakes divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings will be contested at Tioga Downs this Friday (July 20).

The morning line favourite for the first division is Cavill Hanover (Ake Svanstedt) at 5-2. The colt by Muscle Mass-Cr Calendar Girl is trained by Svanstedt for owners Little E LLC, Vanersol Inc., and Wolfgang A Stable Inc. He is one for one in his young career. His victory came during a leg of the NYSS at Monticello Raceway.

The second choice in the first division is Skyway Kon Man (Trond Smedshammer) at 3-1. The colt by Conway Hall-Keystone Sadie is owned by Purple Haze Stables and trained by Smedshammer. He finished third during a leg of the NYSS at Monticello in what has been his only career start.

In the second division, the morning line choice is the Jimmy Takter-trained Keystone Cash (Josert Fonseca) at 5-2. The colt by Chapter Seven-Keystone Cola is owned by Howard Taylor, Judith Taylor, and the Order By Stable. He has a win and a second from two career starts. His victory came in a NYSS dash at Monticello.

Gimpanzee (who is scheduled to be driven by Brian Sears) is the second choice on the morning line for the second division at 3-1. Marcus Melander trains for owners Courant Inc. and the SRF Stable. The colt by Chapter Seven-Steamy Windows won a NYSS leg at Monticello in what has been his only start.

The 2-1 morning line favourite for the final NYSS division is Captain Krupnik (Ake Svanstedt). Owned by Lars Berg and Svanstedt, his trainer, the colt by Conway Hall-Salt Hill Brigid finished second in his only career start, which came at Monticello during a leg of the NYSS.

The second choice on the morning line for the third division is Chip Chip Conway (Jim Taggart Jr.) at 3-1. The gelding by Conway Hall-Get Chipped has recorded one win after three career starts. He is owned by Ken Weckstein and trainer Gary Messenger.

Tioga’s 13-race Friday card will start at 6:15 p.m.
