Scioto Downs celebrates the national “Back to the Track” promotion on Saturday night with a variety of activities aimed at both new and veteran racing fans

.

The evening’s second race will feature Ohio Driving Legends, 10 veteran drivers who have enjoyed long and distinguished careers on the track. Participating drivers are Dan Ater, Sandy Beatty, Tom Brinkerhoff, Don McKirgan, Scott Mogan, David Myers, Chip Noble, Ray Paver, Billy Walters, and Marty Wollam. They will be signing autographs prior to the Ohio Driving Legends Race.

Three divisions of Ohio Sires Stakes for two-year-olds will also be contested, highlighted by eight freshman pacers racing for a $34,300 purse.

The first 500 paying customers at Scioto on Saturday will get free Ohio Lottery scratch-off tickets. Scioto Downs hats will also be given away and fans will have a chance to win a trip to the Little Brown Jug.

Early arrivals will have a chance to tour the Scioto stable area, courtesy of volunteers from the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Assn. Tours will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue for an hour. Interested fans should meet at the winner’s circle.

Fans will have a rare opportunity to put a Scioto driver in a dunk tank prior to the races and during the races. Many popular Scioto drivers and trainers have volunteered to participate. Proceeds from the dunk tank will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

Members of the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of Ohio will be at Scioto to meet fans and to show how versatile and enjoyable retired harness horses can be.

Scioto will also be featuring its Dollar Menu with draft beer, hot dogs, grilled sweet corn, soft drinks, and popcorn all available for $1.00 each.

The 13-race Saturday program begins at 6:30 p.m.
