The Horse Name Costume Game returns to Grand River Raceway this Friday. With a total of $1000 in prizes up for grabs, it’s never been so cool to wear a costume in July. It’s free to play and fun for the whole family, with prizes for kids (15 and under) and adults

.

The object of the game is to dress in the likeness of the name of a racehorse competing at Grand River Raceway on July 15.

With a total of 108 horses taking part in 12 races on Friday night, there are lots of great names to choose from. Simply select one from the list below, or visit the Grand River Raceway website to see a complete list of entries for Friday. The site also features a short video tutorial on the topic, including great sample costumes from 2010.

Create a costume based on your favourite name. Think outside the box and use what you have at home to fashion your outfit for the contest. Some of the best costumes in the past have used household objects in interesting ways or have employed extremely creative angles on the horse’s name.

On the evening of July 15th, register in the main lobby at Grand River from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. All participants will take part in a costume parade on the tarmac following race six and present their creations in front of a panel of three judges. The judges will score each entry and select the top five costumes in each category based on three criteria: creativity, effort and presentation.

The top five adults will win the following prizes: 1st= $500, 2nd = $200, 3rd = $100, 4th = $50, 5th = $25. The top five kids will all be awarded $25.

So, pick a horse name and get creative, you could be the next Horse Name Costume Game champion!
