The upcoming stakes schedule during Lobster Carnival Week in Summerside has put into question the number of horses available for the upcoming Saturday, July 16 race day at Exhibition Park Raceway.
In light of this, Horse Racing New Brunswick will be cancelling the scheduled July 22 card for Woodstock Raceway and adding July 23 at Exhibition Park Raceway.
"It comes down to sheer numbers," said HRNB President Kathy McLean. "Lots of other jurisdictions are facing population crunches and we are feeling it even more here in New Brunswick. Losing five or six horses to stakes action really hurts us."
