Heart And Soul will have the inside advantage in the featured event at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park on Thursday evening (May 17).

The $1,800 featured dash will line up for the final race of the night (Race 10). Heart And Soul will ship in from Nova Scotia and will start from Post 1. He has received the nod as the morning line favourite. The five-year-old son of Western Paradise had been racing the top class at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia and has yet to miss a cheque, but he will drop down in class to face his Thursday foes. Clare MacDonald trains and drives Heart And Soul for owner Riley Farms Ltd. of Summerside.

Nogreatmischief will start from Post 2 in the dash, which will mark his second start of the season for owner-trainer-driver Walter Cheverie. Confident Fella has been settling in since relocating to P.E.I., as he has recorded third-place finishes in his last two outings for trainer Ralph Sweet and driver Marc Campbell.

Other entries include Jeb (to be driven by Jason Hughes), Likely To Win (Adam Merner), Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton) and The Big Bite (Kenny Arsenault).

The program will also see the debut of rookie driver Drew Neill, who will have two mounts on the mid-week card. The 18-year-old will kick off his career in Race 5 aboard Post 5 starter All Turain for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Lee Hicken of Charlottetown. The veteran son of Tell All has not raced since September, but will look for his 40th lifetime victory in the $1,000 class. Neill will also drive Ideal Space in Race 7. Ideal Space has been gauged at 8-1 on the morning line for trainer Joey Squires.

The top mares will tangle again this week in Race 8, and Julep Hanover has been installed as the morning line choice for trainer/driver Wade Myers from Post 5 in the $2,000 class. Other top entries include Malabrigo (Campbell) and West River Ambyr (MacDonald).

First-race post time is 6:30 p.m.
