Dennis Cummings Passes

Longtime standardbred trainer and owner Dennis A. Cummings passed away on Monday, May 14 at his residence in Akron, New York at the age of 68

.

Cummings was the proprietor of Cummings Stables in Pembroke, which he established 35 years ago. He raised standardbred racehorses and was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association as well as the WNY Harness Horseman’s Association. His best horse was Paradise Indian, who was driven by the late Dave Vance, and won many New York Sire Stakes races in 1995.

Cummings was a truly dedicated farmer working from sun up to sun down caring for the horses and maintaining his crops.

Son of the late Arnold and Evelyn (Schmidt) Cummings. Loving husband of Paula (Hibbard) Cummings whom he married on March 17, 1981. Dear father of Dennis (Lori) Cummings, Kenneth (Nadine) Snyder, Wendy (Daryl) Bruyere and Heidi (Keith) Ball, cherished grandfather of eight grandchildren, brother of Dianne (David) Burns.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Childs Funeral Home LLC, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, where funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. David Weidman will officiate. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, Akron.

Memorials in Cummings' memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
