PA Sire Stakes To Be Postmarked By May 15

Published: May 14, 2012 11:06 am EDT

The Pennsylvania Sire Stakes is reminding horsepeople that there are payments in all age brackets that must be postmarked by Tuesday, May 15

.

For yearlings, there is a $50 payment to nominate to the pari-mutuel sire stakes division (which also includes nomination to any Stallion Series races to be held), and a $5 payment to become eligible to the fair stakes program.

For two-year-olds, there are scheduled payments of $400 for the pari-mutuel events and $50 for the fairs. However, it should be noted that if you do not think your horse will be ready for stakes competition at two, you can skip paying here and, if having paid in on March 15 of this year, retain eligibility to pay into the three-year-old stakes in the spring of 2013 (this of course means you would forfeit the chance to race in the freshman races where you do not make payment).

For three-year-olds, those wanting to stay eligible for the fair program need to send in a $100 payment before the deadline. There are no pari-mutuel payments due on May 15 – in fact, the three-year-old PA Sire Stakes action for 2012 starts today with Stallion Series action at the Meadows.

Cheque and money orders (in U.S. funds), made out to the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes, are accepted, and payments should be addressed to the Sire Stakes at 2301 N Cameron St Rm 301, Harrisburg PA 17110. Any questions, please call 717-787-5539.
