Jim Farrington Passes

Trot Insider has learned that horseman James ‘Jim’ Farrington passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Sunday, May 8 surrounded by his loving family. He was in his 77th year.

Jim was an active owner, trainer and driver that started his career in 1966 with his first horse, Joyful Cash. He enjoyed the opening night of Grand River Raceway April 25, 2011.

Beloved husband of the late Marian Birdsell. Much loved father of Jeffrey. Loving brother of Dorothy Bisset, Freeman Farrington and the late Bonnie Robertson. Predeceased by his parents Selby and Beryl and his uncle Henry ‘Hank’ Farrington. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.

Jim was a proud member of Standardbred Canada, the Ontario Harness Horsemen's Association, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Meeting Waters Chapter No. 173 of Paris, Ont., and Past Master of Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 172.

There will be an Order of the Eastern Star funeral service at the funeral home under the auspices of Meeting Waters Chapter No. 173 of Paris on Friday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Friends will be received at the Hill & Robinson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford, Ont. on Friday, May 13 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
