Clifford Garland Passes

Trot Insider has learned longtime horseman Clifford Garland passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, April 27. He was 89 years old.

Garland was the owner of W.G. Garland Limited, and he was an avid standardbred horseman.

Predeceased by wife: Annie; infant daughter: Jocelyn; granddaughter: April; brothers: Berkley, Ron, Ches, Lloyd and Doug; sisters: Ethel, Gen, Lil, Emma and Edna. Leaving to mourn, two daughters: Judy (Calvin) Peddle, Spaniard’s Bay and Mae (John) Thistle, Carbonear; one son: Bruce (Jean), Carbonear; four grandchildren: Terri (Darren), Joe (Amanda), Vanessa and Sheldon (Michelle); three great-grandchildren: Claire, Samantha and Jamie; also a large number of other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the TCP Health Foundation, 86 Highroad South, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
