Opening For Ontario ID Technician

Standardbred Canada is a non-profit association and the National Registry for harness racing in Canada. We maintain and manage all pedigree and racing data for standardbred horses in Canada. We promote and support the industry by offering equine news and services for our members and race fans through a national magazine, website and excellent customer service.

There is an immediate opening for an Identification Technician to serve the Ontario region.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• To schedule and arrange location visits
• To execute freeze branding or microchipping for the identification of horses
• To ensure accuracy of the freeze brand or microchip
• To ensure all required identification process are followed
• To collect DNA sample for parentage verification
• To complete identification reports with the markings, colour and sex of the horses
• To accurately account for all reports and fees
• To properly maintain all provided equipment
• To assist in the identification of imported horses
• To verify, as required identify of horses for sales
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in freeze branding
• Knowledge of colour, markings and traits of Standardbred horses
• Knowledge of the DNA sampling process
• Knowledge of Standardbred Horses
• Must hold valid Ontario Drivers License
• Strong customer focus
• Working knowledge of Internet Application, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and resourceful
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to build and execute an efficient schedule for Identification execution

This position requires regular travel across Ontario.
