Anita Ponton Passes

Trot Insider has learned that Standardbred horse owner Anita Ponton, the former Blue Bonnets paddock judge that was the wife of longtime trainer Roger Ponton, has passed away at the age of 86.

Anita passed away at home on Sunday, April 22.

In addition to her husband Roger, Anita is survived by her children, Sylvain (Angèle Dallaire), Marie-Josée (André Gosselin) and Nathalie (Daniel Gauvin); and grandchildren, Marc-Antoine, Frédérique, Virginie, Caroline and Dominique.

Anita is the sister of Hélène, the late Cécile (late Paul-Henri Maheux), Laurette (Noël Nadeau), Denise (Michel Rodrigue), the late Denis, Gisèle (Michel Dion).

She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place at 6700 Beaubien Street East, Montreal on Friday (April 27) from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday (April 28) from 9-10 a.m.

A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday (April 28) at 11 a.m. at the St-Marcel Church in Montreal.
