Belanger Fundraiser Proves Successful

It was announced in February that Belanger was forced to step away from racing in order to battle cancer.

“Like many of us, Paul is far too proud to ask for help in this, his time of need,” fellow horseman Anthony MacDonald said when he learned of Belanger’s battle. “So I'm asking for him. Please join me in giving Paul whatever financial security we can so he can focus at the job at hand in such a stressful time.

“Get better soon Paul, keep smiling and laughing, we are all here for you."

A GoFundMe page was also set up in order to help Belanger. To check that out, click here.

The recent charity event for Belanger was the brainchild of Jean-Francois Maguire and Jim Tropea, and they have conveyed to Trot Insider that more than $6,500 was raised for their friend in need.

Organizers would like to send a special thank you to all of their sponsors, Blake Macintosh, Sharp Farm Supplies, Woodbine Mohawk Park, Flamboro Downs, Grand River Raceway, Tackmaster, Doyle Transport, Armando Cappuccitti, Robert Watson, Mike Barton, Jan Van Nest, Dan Megens, Jackie’s Mobile Tack, Equilibrium horse products, Jason McGinnis, Trevor Henry, Shannon Henry; and a really special thanks to all of the horsepeople who helped, Jim and Michelle Tropea, Julie Malenfant, Stephanie Lapointe and Jody Jamieson.
