Heather Commodore Hayes Passes; Arrangements Finalized

Longtime harness racing participant Heather Commodore Hayes of Beamsville, Ont., passed away during the morning hours of Sunday, February 22 at the age of 65.

Heather is survived by her husband, Dr. John Hayes, her brother Rob, sons Robert (Emily) and Chris (Christine) and grandchildren Mia and John Francis.

Heather's father-in-law, John Hayes Sr., was a former President of the Canadian Trotting Association. John was a past director and Vice President of the Canadian Standardbred Horse Society, while Chris was also active in the industry working in Standardbred Canada's Marketing Dept.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland, Ontario L0R 2C0 with the service set for Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

Gay and I have just learned about Heather's passing and offer our condolences to John, Chris, Robert and family. Heather was a special person, thoughtful and caring with a keen sense of humour, gone too soon and sincerely missed.

I spent a lot of time at the Hayes' farm when I was younger. Heather played a great part in my formative years. She will be remembered with great fondness and respect. She was a kind and beautiful woman.
