Jeff Remy Passes

Well known Ohio horseman Jeffrey Alan Remy, 65, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away suddenly at his residence on December 4 due to complications from diabetes.

Remy entered the business working as a groom for trainers Ron Noel and Gene Riegle, and was a second trainer for Joe Adamsky. He then started his own stable with his brother, Jack, training and driving for notable owners such as Bud Hatfield, Ed Gold and Joe Thompson, to name a few.

Remy loved developing young horses and escaping the Ohio winters by heading south for many years to break and train in Pompano Beach, Florida and Hawkinsville, Georgia.

Remy went on to become a racing official for a brief period, but training was his real passion that he returned to for the last several years. A couple of his favourite horses that he trained were Scootin Bye and Usher Hanover. He was always willing to help fellow horsemen and lend a hand or advice whenever he could and always had time to reminisce about the old days, and share jokes or stories in the shed row with the guys.

He is survived by brother, Jack Remy (Crystal Lilley). Condolences may be sent to [email protected] or 68 Sandyhook Rd, Berlin, MD 21811. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Relief Foundation.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Jeff Remy.
