Inaugural Pompano Tuesday A Success

Tuesday nights had been missing from the racing calendar in south Florida for a couple of seasons, but fans responded with a flurry with its return to the schedule.

Over $460,000 was wagered on Pompano’s 10-race Tuesday card, with $8,872 of that coming in the nightly 50-Cent Pick 5 which featured a $1,592 carryover going in. The sequence produced no real surprises, and returned $250.35 for the 50-cent combination after Verdi ($2.10) and driver Wally Hennessey captured the final leg.

The 20-Cent Jackpot Hi-Five carryover survived another card and is now up to $3,815 heading into Wednesday night’s action. In order to win the entire jackpot, there must be one ‘unique’ winning ticket. If there are multiple winning tickets, 50 per cent of the pool is paid out and the other 50 per cent is added to the carryover. There were three winning tickets out on Tuesday night, producing a $573.78 return for the 20-cent combination.

Live racing action continues on Wednesday night with first post at 7:30 p.m.

Pompano Park now offers live racing four nights per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings. Sunday night racing returns on December 14th.
