Giuseppe Lazzara Passes

Giuseppe Lazzara, longtime horse owner and racing fan, passed away on November 26, 2009 in Montreal, Que. after a battle with cancer. He was 65.

Lazzara, also an amateur driver, owned many horses throughout his lifetime including 1991 Gold Cup & Saucer winner Portent. He also trained Nick, Eclair De Lune and many more.

He leaves to mourn his daughters Nathalie (Robert), Nina (Mark), Angela (Blaine), his grandchildren as well as his mother Antonina Scalia. He also leaves to mourn Angela and her children Maria, Rosa (Carlo), Liboria (Stephano), Teresa (Tony), Alfonso, his sisters Angela (Pascal) and Antonietta (Mike).

The family will receive condolences at Complexe Funeraire Loreto at 4975 boul. Des Grandes Prairies, St-Leonard. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 2 at Notre Dame de la Consolata church at 11 a.m., thence to Repos Saint-Francois D'Assise cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday, November 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday, December 1 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
