Anita Ratliff Passes

Anita Ratliff, who managed Thunder Ridge Racetrack in Kentucky with a big heart but little money, has passed away after a three-year battle with cancer.

Ratliff worked in public accounting for 50 years before ending her career as general manager and chief financial officer of Appalachian Racing in Prestonsburg, Ky.

She is survived by her life partner, William ‘Bill’ D. Roberts of Prestonsburg; her daughter, Paula Ratliff; her father, Billy Slone; brother, William ‘Jr.’ Slone; sister, Trena Taylor; plus other family members.

Visitation will be held at J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home, 703 Hambley Blvd. Pikeville, Ky., 41501, on Tuesday, November 11, from 1-4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m., and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time for the funeral at 1 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
