Peter Lutman Passes

Peter John Lutman Sr. of Loch Sheldrake, a harness horse driver and trainer at Monticello Raceway, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris at the age of 79.

The son of the late Victor Lutman and Wilda Rutledge Lutman, he was born January 7, 1933 in Goderich, Ontario, Canada. Peter was a member of the United States Trotting Association and a former director of the Monticello Harness Horsemen's Association where he was once awarded the Good Guy Award. He raced on many different tracks both in the United States and Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Elmore Lutman at home; a son, Peter J. Lutman Jr. of Loch Sheldrake; two grandchildren, Jimmy Shields and his companion, Allison Whipple and Peter J. Lutman III and his companion, Megan Gilmour; and two great grandchildren, Peter Joshua Lutman and Nicholas Lutman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, David; and a brother, Glenn.

Arrangements and funeral have already taken place.
