Paul Gassien Passes

Longtime horseman Paul Gassien of Lindsay, Ont. passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2014 in his 90th year.

Involved for years in racing as breeder, owner, trainer and driver, Paul's most cherished horse was Grattan Portage -- his first horse to race on the OJC circuit. Paul was integral in involving his family with the sport as his sons Dan, Reg and Stephen are all active trainers and drivers today.

Paul was the beloved husband of Margaret Brasier, for 65 years. Loving father of Reg (Sheila), the late Gary, Elaine (Brad), Dan and Stephen (Beth). Cherished grandpa of Kara, Jenna, Ashley, Connor, Danielle, Channing, Alex, Max, and Aaron. Paul will be remembered always by his extended family and friends.

Visitation will be at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be in the Chapel on Friday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lindsay. Memorial donations to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
