Preparations for the 2nd Annual Night At The Races fundraiser, hosted by Go and Play Stables are underway.

At Go and Play Stables, it is their belief that patience and persistence pays off; especially when you are in the business of rescuing, retraining and rehoming Standardbred horses. With this in mind, they are gearing up for their 2nd Annual Night At The Races fundraising dinner at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Woodbine Racetrack is a perfect venue for Go and Play Stables to showcase their Standardbreds, surrounded by both knowledgeable people within the industry as well as guests who have little or no knowledge of the journey a racehorse takes once its career comes to a finish. Night At The Races is a wonderful way to learn about the importance of rescuing and rehoming these incredible and versatile animals.

In 2009 Sarah Merriam-Waldram followed her strong desire to educate the riding industry about what they were missing. Sarah started bringing in Standardbred horses that were no longer competitive in the racing industry, began retraining them for second careers and rehoming them. She then reached out to her community, creating an extended family of exceptional volunteers whose dedication, devotion and love of horses has contributed 100% to the overall success of Go and Play Stables. To this hard working team's delight Go and Play Stables became an officially recognized charitable organization in 2013.

Beginning this Spring 2015, Go and Play Stables will be employing their rescue horses to rescue people. F.E.E.L (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning) programming will be offered at the farm, along with specialized, cutting-edge equine therapy programming for those on the autism spectrum and their families.

There is so much to see and do at this year's Night At The Races fundraiser! Sponsored tables will be showcased by the people involved in Ontario's sport of harness racing, an elegant buffet dinner to enjoy with friends, silent auction, opportunity for attendees to network, and the opportunity to meet the Go and Play team that devotes their energy, passion and time to these beautiful horses.

Tickets are $55.00 per person. For more information, contact Corinne Kack at [email protected].
