Elizabeth Ann Greenly Parker Passes

Elizabeth Ann Greenly Parker, 79, of Wellington, Fla., passed away on October 6, 2013, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She was born on May 23, 1934, in Milford, Del., to Fred B. Sr. and Mary M. Greenly of Harrington, Del. She graduated from Harrington High School in 1952 and Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She practiced nursing at both Milford Memorial Hospital and Kent General Hospital as well as conducted private duty nursing for a number of years.

She married Jack D. Parker in 1954 in Harrington, Del. They were happily married for 59 years.

Elizabeth was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She traveled extensively with her husband and family in the Standardbred racehorse business. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association.

She correlated three generations of world champion racehorses as her father, Fred B. Greenly, owned several including the great Direct Express. Her father-in-law, Howard Parker, raced champs W W Smith and Victory Lind and her husband and son, Howard G., teamed up with champion Armbro Breton. Sons Jack Jr. and Howard G. have driven a combined eight world champions including Slapstick and Gee Gee Digger, respectively. Daughter Lynne raced successfully on the New Jersey Standardbred Fair Circuit.

Elizabeth was her family's most enthusiastic and loyal champion, deriving great pride and pleasure in all their accomplishments.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Jack D. Jr. (Carol), Lynne Elizabeth (Todd) Green and Howard G. (Nancy); grandchildren, Chet, Jay, Nick, Greg, and Michael; great grandchildren, Chet Jr., Stefanie, McKayla and Andrea; and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Avenue, Harrington, DE on Sunday (October 20) at 2:00 p.m. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at this service. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, DuPont Highway and 295, New Castle, DE.
