It has been announced that 100-time career winner and longtime Pompano Park fan favourite Lady Netty N has passed away at the age of 30.

Lady Netty N is the only mare to have 100 wins (99 in U.S. and one in New Zealand) in the modern era of harness racing.

The ultra-consistent mare was the ‘bettors choice’ for a number of years in the 1990s and early 2000s based on her incredible lifetime record of 375 starts with 100 wins, 95 seconds and 51 thirds with a mark of 1:55. In 1999, the daughter of No Fission-Stormy Girl had 12 wins in a row for trainer Jay Pocza/Gordon Norris stable at Pompano Park.

Lady Netty was bred and raised in Omakau, New Zealand, made her first qualifying start in the United States on February 3, 1993, and earned $249,989 in North America.

The ‘Down Under Wonder’ competed at several tracks in the Midwest, but found her greatest success at Pompano Park, where on New Year’s Eve 2002 during the midnight mile she turned 15 and raced herself into retirement.

Her sterling record earned her an induction into the Florida Chapter USHWA Hall of Fame in 2002. As a broodmare, she had three foals with two record performers led by R I P Spanky (p, 4 1:55.1 - $94,982).

She had lots of owners and trainers, but at the end of her racing career she was owned by Rosalia Huff and trained by Jake Huff. She has spent the last few years adopted and cared for by Gloria Clark in Sugarloaf, Pa.

May she rest in peace.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Lady Netty N.
