Larry Battaglia Passes

Larry Battaglia, 64, a retired and well respected horseman from Marathon, Florida Keys, passed away December 28, 2013, from cancer.

Battaglia worked for the Stanley Dancer Stable in the late 1960s to early 1970s, then went on his own, racing at Freehold, Atlantic City and the Poconos.

Later he worked for Ed Lohmeyer at the Meadowlands, then on to New York working for Norman Dauplaise and was named Trainer of the Year twice on the Roosevelt and Yonkers circuit.

After retiring from training he briefly went with A&G Pharmaceuticals, then moved to Marathon, Florida Keys, to fulfill his love of diving and spear fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and his son, Larry.
