As Billy said, this is a very regular feature of January racing in B.C. Last year (I think) a few consecutive weeks were lost, Chuck made a video explaining why etc. Enough is enough, dig that joke of a track up and re-build it to withstand the odd snowfall and frost. Yes, ground can heave when subjected to freeze and thaw cycles, but it's a regular occurrence everywhere else (proper drainage is essential) and the shows go on... I'm choked as a bettor, but the ones really paying are the horsepeople and owners. How many consecutive years is this going to go on for?
BTW, can someone upload that list of horses at training centres that work please?
Thanks in advance, BabyNeedsaNewPairofShoes

Every year, same results in January. We have had a week of lousy conditions where we couldn't train at all, barely get them jogged on the snow covered little track. I don't understand why the few local training centers that have minimal equipment have had no troubles keeping their tracks trainable.
We hear the arguments of the track superintendent doesn't have the proper machines or material or enough help. For some reason between the barns was ignored by salt causing more than a few falls.
Some people claim the supers hands are tied by management as to what he may do to the track. Surely claims that management is treating horsemen this way stems from the city telling them that 6 months of racing wasnt enough cant be the cause of the indifference to track conditions.
Employees also say that the cancellations dont bother management. I know it bothers the horsemen and owners trying to get by on the 1 start they will be lucky to get in this month.
Hopefully we can race these lost days at the end of the scheduled meet, that would appease most horsemen and owners because in the past these days are just gone forever.
