On Friday, Shales Froggy, the popular As Promised gelding that commonly thrills fans at Fraser Downs, was scratched 'lame' from the Open at the Surrey oval. According to trainer Barry Treen, the four-year-old will be missing some time.

According to a report by the BC Standardbred Association, Treen said that Shales Froggy had injured himself in a qualifying race and that he is hoping the gelding will return and be racing by the winter.

From 11 starts this year, Shales Froggy amassed a record of 2-2-3 and $29,575 in purses, lowering his mark to 1:53.3 over Fraser in the process.
