No Competition Cruises In Sudbury

No Competition was too much competition for his three rivals on Wednesday at Sudbury Downs as he scored off the claim for trainer/driver Dave Dowling in the $9,000 Not Listed Preferred Pace.

The field was cut to only four starters when Weird Albert was scratched by the Judges.

Dowling shelled out $10,200 to claim No Competition last week and that investment turned a quick return tonight.

When the gates opened, No Competition found himself in third and he sat patiently through a first half mile of :28.3 and :58.2, which was set by Astro Lad (Jay Polifroni). Dowling moved the five-year-old Rustler Hanover gelding first-over down the backside and he blasted to the front following the 1:28 third marker.

No Competition quickly opened up four lengths and he kept that margin to the wire, tripping the teletimer in 1:56.4. Thomoson Seelster (Gerry Belanger) finished in the place spot while the show went to Full Of Speed (Mike MacNeill).

It was the fifth win in 27 seasonal starts for the gelding and the 12th of his career. The victory boosted his lifetime bankroll to $91,927.
