Nearly $4,000 Raised For Girodat

Hanover Raceway and several of the local horsemen raised close to $4,000 in a raffle draw this past Saturday, with proceeds going to former Hanover Blacksmith Gene Girodat of Walkerton, Ontario.

Girodat, who recently underwent a quadruple heart bypass operation, is doing well, but obviously is still recovering from the operation.

Special thanks go out to Peter Clements of Dobbinton, Charlie Ward of Hanover, and Mark Etsell of Walkerton who were among those who donated items, and helped sell tickets at local racetracks.

The winner's were drawn during Hanover's final race day of the 2008 season on Saturday. The winners were:

James Ruhl won a harness

Brenda Walker won the Texas Mickey
(donated by Charlie Ward)

Amy Norris and Carrie Scott won coolers
(donated by Greenhawk and OHHA)

Brian and Ruthann Allen won feed, Bill Campbell won dinner for 2 from Hanover Raceway, Donelda Reiley, Scott McEneny, Ron Kerr and Jim Ruhl won Pepsi North America Cup programs signed by Paul MacDonell and Gord Smellie won a Little Brown Jug Media Guide signed by the owner and trainer of the 2008 Champion Shadow Play, Dr. Ian Moore.

Hanover Raceway would like to thank all those that contributed to the draw, and Gene Girodat thanks all of those that took part and bought tickets.
