Dismissed in the wagering at nearly 20-1, Just Asking roared from behind to capture the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred trot Thursday at The Meadows in a career-best 1:56.1.

Trailing by more than seven lengths at the half, Just Asking picked up live cover from Motherland, then accelerated past that rival near the final turn. She won by 1-1/2 lengths over That Flyn Angel while Motherland saved show.

Tony Hall piloted the daughter of Inquirer-Justa Cheryl for trainer Bill Daumit and owners Laura Daumit and Robert Gaylor. It was one of Hall’s five winning drives on the 15-race card, a total matched by Dick Stillings.
