Gagnon Doubles Up In 6K Series

Trainer/driver Guy Gagnon swept the $4,800 fillies and mares pacing divisions of the 6K Series on Friday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

In rein to Gagnon, Bio Link picked up her second consecutive win in the Pacing Series.

The four-year-old mare by Village Jiffy got away seventh, but was on the move right from the get-go. As Wicked Windfall (John MacDonald) posted the opening panels of :27.3 and :59, Bio Link made her way to the front. The winner of 14 lifetime races passed the third quarter station in 1:28.2 and sprinted home for the win in 1:57.2 by almost two lengths.

Jeri West (Gord Brown) came on for second and Hollypophaley (Rod Zeron) finished third.

Bio Link, who is owned by Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc., Rene Nerbonne, Jr. and Alain Despatie of Gatineau, Que., has made 14 trips to the winner's circle in her career and earned a total of $67,118 in purses.

Marie Phil Bg converted from the perfect pocket to prevail in her Pacing Series split for Gagnon.

The five-year-old Passailed mare, who is owned by Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc., posted a 1:58.1 win by a neck after following Landfairmaggiejane (Stephane Gendron) through panels of :28, :58.1 and 1:28.2. Ride The Bus (John MacDonald) was third.

Marie Phil Bg, who finished second in the first two legs, has won 12 races and banked $57,160 in purse earnings.

Fresh off a win in the previous leg, Dunmore Tcb held on by a neck to win the first 6K Trotting Series split of tonight's third leg in 2:00.4.

In rein to Ted MacDonald, the six-year-old Black River gelding carved out fractions of :30.1 and 1:00.2 before facing a challenge from Jimmy Hall (Guy Gagnon) through the third quarter in 1:30.4. Dunmore Tcb managed to maintain his lead on the field and held off the fan favourite Berto Coquette (John MacDonald) for the win. Pacopaco (Anne Marie Turenne) finished third.

The Gary McDonald trainee picked up his fifteenth lifetime win and increased his bankroll to $67,592 for co-owners Suzanne McDonald of Edwards, Ont. and Carl Bagnall of Stratford, P.E.I.

King Clifford, a four-year-old son of King Conch, picked up a win in his trotting division in rein to Jacques Beaudoin. The Jason Gilchrist trainee got away second as Jn Kingkurt (Ernie O'Dwyer) posted the opening panel in :29.3. Fox Valley Isbi (Michel Turenne) took over before the half in :59.2. En route the third quarter station, King Clifford tipped out and advanced to the lead in the stretch, reaching the wire in 2:01.1.

Fox Valley Isbi stayed for second and Hallelujah Dream (Gerry Turenne) nabbed the show spot.

King Clifford's 11th lifetime win pushed his earnings to $97,854 for owner Dr Fred Albert of Prescott, Ont.
