Charlie O Charlie, the winner of the first leg of the Champions Trot series on October 11, rallied from off the pace to win the $24,200 Final tonight at Sudbury Downs.

The five-year-old gelded son of Sjs Caviar and driver Gerry Belanger got away fourth from Post 2 while Terra Cotta Candy (Allan Hohner) lead the field to the first quarter pole in :29.1, but the post time favourite, New Dice Please (Paul McLean), took over through the following fractions of :58.4 and 1:29.3.

Meanwhile, Charlie O Charlie had launched a first-over bid advancing through the middle panels and taking the lead in the stretch to win by one length in 2:00.

Check Le Look (Mario Rivest) followed his cover to finish second and Rebar Man (Pat Barr) came on for third.

Belanger trains and owns the winner of five races this season and $44,370 in purses.

In the $10,000 Not Listed Preferred Pace, Belanger found himself back in the winner's circle with his pupil, Thomson Seelster.

Smart Barney (Justin Turcotte) and Seawind Gambler (Allan Hohner) battled for the early lead with Seawind Gambler prevailing after a :28 first quarter. Thomson Seelster tipped out from fifth following the cover of Gyraider (Mike MacNeill) through panels of :57.1 and 1:26.2. As the field turned for home, Thomson Seelster used a :29.1 final quarter effort to collar the pacesetter at the wire in 1:56. Gyraider was third.

The eight-year-old gelded son of Rustler Hanover scored his seventh win of 2008 and increased his seasonal bankroll to $69,773.
