With only two programs remaining on the schedule, the tight Fredericton Raceway drivers’ dash-win derby has officially gathered steam

.

Stephen Trites and Gilles Barrieau are locked up in a tie atop the standings with 26 wins apiece this season. Both reinsmen have several assignments on Thursday night’s eight-dash program, which will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Todd Trites, the pilot that currently occupies the third-place position on the leaderboard, remains in contention for a championship season at the local oval. Todd is only three wins behind both Barrieau and his older brother, Stephen.

Barrieau has the call on three of the morning line favourites heading into the card, including the top contender in the featured seventh race. Slim N Sleek will leave from Post 4 in the eight-horse main event field. Other contenders in the field include Dusty Lane Ely (to be driven by Lonny Stokes), Trust Me Lee (Todd Trites), and Melodys Cookie Boy (Mark Haig).

On Thursday afternoon, Horse Racing New Brunswick teletheatres will simulcast the 64th running of the Little Brown Jug from Delaware, Ohio.
