Colonel Schneider Jr.'s Amazing Perch ($3.70) sustained a first-over push out of third en route to a 1:53.3 score in Wednesday's (Sept. 19) featured $9,000 Preferred 3 Pace at Grand River Raceway.

Trainer-driver George Ketros let the dust settle early, enabling Lets Wait And See (Colin Kelly) and Adkins Hanover (Brett MacDonald) to do the heavy lifting through a :27.2 first quarter before making his move with Amazing Perch just before a :56.4 half-mile split. The five-year-old Duneside Perch gelding worked up to the flank of Lets Wait And See early in the second circuit and forced a :28.4 third sectional before ratcheting up the pressure on the final turn.

Coming off the home corner, Amazing Perch struck the front and edged away to defeat Lets Wait And See by 2-1/4 lengths. Adkins Hanover, despite tiring in pursuit from the pocket, narrowly held third over the ground-saving Buckeroo (Ryan Holliday).

Amazing Perch earned his fourth 2018 win and the 11th of his career.
