Flamboro Preferred To Saulsbrook Peach

Saulsbrook Peach kept all challengers at bay, winning the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs in wire-to-wire fashion on Sunday night (September 18).

Driven by Robert Shepherd, Saulsbrook Peach left sharply from post three and carved out fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:25.2 while rebuffing the favoured first over challenger, Audreys Dream. He then held off the pocket-pulling Paparazzi Hanover down the stretch to to score his eight win of the year by a neck in a season's best clocking of 1:54 flat. Bestofthebunch closed along the pylons and edged by Audreys Dream for the third-place honours.

Isabella Darveau trains Saulsbrooks Peach, who paid $10.70 to win as the 4-1 third wagering choice. The seven-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding is owned by Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, Que.

Sabine Pass ($24.70) and trainer/driver Paul Davies won the $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace, rallying off cover to pass the duelling leaders, Mister X and Lets Wait And See, down the stretch. Sabine Pass prevailed in 1:54.3 with favourite Windsong Leo closing inside for second-place just a half-length behind. The four-year-old gelded son of Rocknroll Hanover earned his fourth win of the season for owner Audrey Leighland of Maple Ridge, B.C.
