'Friday' Hoping For Profitable Sunday

A field of five pacers will face off with a free-for-all pacing star in the Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores at the Summerside.

The first race of the 11-dash card lines up behind the gate at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon while Good Friday Three has the outside of six horses in the race 10 feature for a $2,400 purse.

Corey MacPherson gets the catch driving call behind the Austin Sorrie-trained Good Friday Three for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside. An entrant in the $20,000 James ‘Roach’ MacGregor Memorial Gold Cup and Saucer consolation in August in Charlottetown, the five-year-old son of Mach Three paced in 1:53 and change over Summerside earlier this summer in the Governor's Plate final.

His Sunday afternoon foes are headlined by top pacer Rash B Havior (Driven by Ken Murphy) from post 4 while Allstar Seelster (Norris Rogers) is fresh off a 1:58 qualifier after having not started since the Governor's Plate final on July 15.

Other Sunday top class entries include Old Buck (Jason Hughes), Ultimatelyhandsome (Kenny Arsenault) and Eagle Jolt (Marc Campbell).

The afternoon back-up class carries a purse of $1,800 with Machinthesand leading the way from post 3 with Murphy driving for trainer Hughie Murphy and owners Noonan Holdings and Russell and Karen Noonan of Summerside. Other top entries include Bet Er All (Campbell) and Pictonian Storm (Gary Chappell).

Race 1 has a newcomer to East Coast with Cyrax leaving from post 6 for new owner-trainer Barry Biggar of Summerside with Dale Spence in the bike. The four-year-old son of Intrepid Seelster has 11 lifetime victories along with $48,272 in earnings with a lifetime best of 1:54.1 taken over Hoosier Park in Indiana. Cyrax had been racing the claiming ranks in Ontario before relocating East.
