The betting public was all over Murmur Hanover in Thursday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 for trotters at Flamboro Downs, and the change of scenery clearly did the gelding a world of good.

Something else that didn’t hurt Murmur Hanover was the two-hole trip mapped out by driver Travis Henry. The six-year-old son of Majestic Son-Mrs Ronerail, who was let go at odds of 3-2, sat the deuce behind Delcrest Massy through panels of :28.2, :58 and 1:27.1. Murmur Hanover used a :29.2 kick to secure the lead and win by three-quarters of a length over Delcrest Massy in 1:57. Unabating was a solid third after doing the first-over work.

Richard Moreau trains the OSS graduate for owner Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, QC. The win was his third of the season and the 16th of his career. The trotter has banked close to $720,000 to date.

Waikiki Hanover extended his winning streak to two-in-a-row thanks to a 1:58.1 score in the first of two divisions of the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters. Bob McClure put the hammer down with the Alan Fair trainee who scooted through fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:28 before cruising home in :30.1 to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Brandon CS. Bags For All was third.

Elizabeth Fair of Ancaster, Ont. owns the 15-time winner who has salted away nearly half of those wins – 7 in total – this season. The trotter recently surpassed $100,000 in career earnings.

Moonbeam Hall also made a round-trip to victory lane thanks to his come-from-behind tally in the second division of the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters. Bob McClure rallied the Ben Baillargeon pupil to the 1:57.4 score over Sandy Hook Road and Seeyou Men.

John Newell of Elmira, Ont. owns the six-year-old son of Amigo Hall-Just One Night. The 11-time winner went over $90,000 with the win.
