Porthill Alf, with trainer and owner Marvyn Webster in the bike, won the Wednesday night feature over a rain-soaked track in 1:59.4 at Red Shores Summerside

.

The victory was special as it was Webster's first win as a driver in just seven starts.

Rich Raider (Mark Bradley) hung on to be second while favourite Yankee Sun (Kenny Arsenault) finished third. Courtside (Corey MacPherson) and PL Betterway (Gary Chappell) completed the order of finish. Tobins Star and Seannee Lad were scratched from the race.

The card started on schedule but was put under a 25 minute delay due to a thunder storm in the area before racing resumed.

The program also featured the Trot Canada National Handicapping Contest presented by Standardbred Canada. Conrad Perry won the contest when he completed the showdown with the most money collected during the competition. Perry will now move to the $25,000 final at Georgian Downs in October.

The action returns to Charlottetown for the PEI Colt Stakes beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. The program will be carried on the Race Day world broadcast at www.harnessracingpei.com. The PEI Colt Stakes continue on Saturday with a double header on Saturday. Post times are 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
