Flamboro Downs hosted a quartet of O.S.S. Gold Series eliminations on Sunday evening, with three-year-old trotting colts and two-year-old pacing colts going at

it in $40,000 tilts.

Text Me was untouchable in the first elimination for the trotting colts and geldings. Randy Waples hustled the Bob McIntosh-trained son of Kadabra-Dial Nile through fractions of :28, :58.1 and 1:27 before using a :29.2 knockout punch to the five foes he faced. He held on to win by three-quarters of a length over Hidden Message in a time of 1:56.2. Go Go Red Marty tagged along to finish third.

The homebred colt, who races for the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables and Dave Boyle, improved his 2010 record to 6-0-1 in 10 tries while lifetime his lifetime bankroll to $587,867 in the process.

Windsong Geant beat up on the competition in a break-filled second elimination. Jody Jamieson rolled the Shawn Robinson-trained son of Kadabra-Early Secret through intervals of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:28.3 before sealing the deal with a :30.4 final frame. He won by a length over pocket-sitter Scotty Doesnt Know in 1:59.2. Race favourite Windsun Galaxie recovered from an early miscue to grab the show dough.

The Brabant Stable of London and Fred Brayford of Alliston, ON share ownership on the gelding, who is now a four-time winner this season after going 0-for-4 as a rookie. He banked $1,000 in his freshman campaign, but has answered with more than $91,000 in earnings this season.

Dr Dew had the fans buzzing last Sunday when he zipped around Flamboro’s oval in 1:54.2, and he outdid himself with a 1:54.1 score in Sunday’s first elimination for the rookie pacers. The son of Royal Mattjesty-Wave At Sam, in rein to J.R. Plante, sliced out fractions of :29.3, :56.4 and 1:25.2 before using a :28.4 closing quarter to win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:54.1. Some Mach Some Win was next best and Kyron rounded out the top three.

The colt is 2-for-2 since joining Bill Windsor’s outfit following a private purchase by the Uncirculated Stable of Brantford, ON. The youngster has banked $38,300 to date.

Cam B Zipper was treated to a sweet trip by driver Randy Waples, and the son of Cammibest-Kellycrombie needed every inch of the trip to spring the 14-1 surprise on seven rivals in a time of 1:55.3. The Bill James-trained first time starter stalked race favourite Lyons Elite through splits of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.1 before picking off that rival in the final strides. Madrigal Mindale was third.

The $11,000 purchase from last year’s Forest City Yearling Sale is owned by W G James Stables Ltd of Blackstock, ON.
