The youngest in the field, sophomore pacing filly Private Performanc edged out her competition to win the $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace featured at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday night.

Private Performanc ($9.90) wore down favourite Rachel Olivia and prevailed by a nose in a blanket finish in 1:56.3. Glass In The Sand just missed after following the winner's cover. Late-closers Shellace and Jennas Princess came on for third and fourth, edging by the pacesetter. The top five finishers were less than a length apart at the wire.

Scott Coulter catch-drove the winning daughter of Western Terror for the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. of Windsor, Ont. and Dave Boyle of Bowmanville, Ont. The victory was Private Performanc's third in her last six starts at Grand River -- all with a winning margin of a neck or a nose.
