Careers Eclipse At Kawartha

Trainer-driver Dan Clancy scored a double on the Saturday, August 26 program at Kawartha Downs with Runaway Mystery, an inexperienced three-year-old pacing gelding, and Thundering Bay, a veteran 14-year-old pacing gelding.

Runaway Mystery, by Mister Big from the Western Maverick mare Phoenix Arcane, broke his maiden grinding first over in a $4,200 conditioned event to win by a length-and-a-quarter in 1:57.4. Owned Gary Smith and Dan Clancy, he paid $22.40 to win.

Later on the card, Clancy steered Thundering Bay to a wire-to-wire performance in a $3,800 claiming event as the even-money favorite in 1:55.3. The son of Albert Albert from the Cam Fella mare Cams Crystal won his 26th race in 130 starts and his second race in seven starts this season, earning $156,059 lifetime. Owned by breeder Walter Clancy, he paid $4.00 to win.
