Officials with the Quebec Jockey Club have announced that the Hippodrome 3R’s Prix D’Ete Day on Sunday, August 23 set a couple of records.

A release from the QJC states that record handle and attendance were set on Sunday.

The QJC has announced that attendance for the day was close to 5,000 people. Also, the QJC has said that the track handle showed a 20 per cent increase over last year’s revival of the Prix D’Ete.

The Ron Burke-trained and Matt Kakaley-driven All Bets Off won the $200,000 Prix D'Ete in 1:50.3 in front of a solid crowd of onlookers at the half-mile oval in Trois Rivieres.

Twelve races were contested on the Sunday card, and nine of them were won by horses on the lead. Seven of the 12 races were won by betting favourites. The entire program handled just under $157,000 in wagers. To view the harness racing results for Sunday at Hippodrome 3R, click the following link: Sunday Results – Hippodrome 3R.

Young Guns In The Quebec-Bred Series Wednesday

Quebec-Bred Series action will continue on Wednesday (August 26) at Hippodrome 3R, as two-year-old trotting colts will take centre stage. The action could prove to be a preview of the division’s $65,000 final, which is scheduled for September 6 at the half-mile oval.

Wednesday’s Quebec-Bred tilts comprise the final preliminary leg for the juvenile male trotters (the top eight overall point earners from the preliminaries will advance to race in the final).

Wednesday’s first division (Race 1) pits three top contenders, all coming off victories in their last start.

Wildwild Men and driver Robert Shepherd will start from Post 3. In his last start in the series, the gelded son of Muscle Mass set the track record for two-year-old geldings with a 2:02.4 score. The win was Wildwild Men’s third from six lifetime starts for trainer Isabelle D’Darveau and co-owners Catheline Pelleto and Chantal Gravel, who bred the horse.

Wildwild Men, who is a winner of three of his last four starts, does his best racing on the front end, but he is set to face two formidable foes on Wednesday in Panamas Boy and Sass.

Last week, Panamas Boy was able to avenge his opening-round loss to Tuscans Memory, as he recorded a 2:02.4 triumph. He will start from Post 6 on Wednesday for driver Stephane Brosseau.

Sass broke his maiden last week in the series for driver Clarke Steacy. The duo had come from off the pace to win with ease in 2:03.1. Sass will start from Post 7.

Wednesday’s second division (Race 4 will feature Tuscans Memory from Post 6 for driver Pascal Berube. The son of Kadabra made his presence known in Quebec with an opening-round victory, which was then followed by a tough loss last week to Panamas Boy.

Tuscans Memory will not have it easy on Wednesday, as he is set to take on Defi Normand (Post 8) and KFB Amigo Cool (Post 3).
