Taking the lead at the quarter before yielding for the pocket at the half, Always At My Place moved wide to reclaim the lead moving into the final turn before drawing away by eight lengths to win the $12,500 first trial for the Sobey's Gold Cup and Saucer in 1:51.1 over Shadow Place and Do Over Hanover on Saturday, August 12 at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Owned by Burke Racing Stables, Weaver Bruscemi, Lawrence Karr, and Phillip Collura, Always At My Place returned $3.10 to win in his fifth score of the season, as well as his 32nd victory overall. Marc Campbell drove the six-year-old gelding by Always A Virgin from the Artsplace mare Best Place.
