On the heels of three relatively close calls in the $9,000 Open Pace at Century Downs, Iwontdothatagain lived up to his name and got all the marbles in Monday evening’s main event.

Trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt hustled Iwontdothatagain into the pocket spot while Cool Cowboy rolled to the top and carved out panels of :27.2, :56.3 and 1:24.2. Sabine Pass put pressure on the leader while racing first over in the third quarter, and that opened the door for Iwontdothatagain to kick home in :27.1 and post the head decision over Sabine Pass in 1:52. Odds-on favourite Cool Cowboy faded to finish third.

Sent off as the second choice in the wagering, Iwontdothatagain scored for the 26th time in his career while improving his seasonal record to 3-4-3 from 11 trips postward. The seven-year-old son of Stonebridge Regal-Island Nessie, who races for Hoerdt and partner Ed Keryliuk, is closing in on $200,000 in career earnings.
