Roaring To Go (by Art Major) set a new track record for freshman fillies in the New York Sire Stakes at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Wednesday night (July 27).

Drawing the outside post in her $54,500 division of the NYSS, Frank Chick's Roaring To Go sat last in the early going as first half fractions of :27.2 and :56.4 were set by duelling rivals. Driver Brett Miller moved the Kevin Lare-trained filly to the outside at the half and got the jump on the race’s odds-on favourite World Apart (by Art Major). Once Roaring To Go cleared the lead, World Apart’s impressive final quarter surge was not enough for her to get to her major danger in a mile paced in 1:54, a new track record for two-year-old pacing fillies.

The Linda Toscano-trained Planet Rock (by Rock N Roll Heaven) moved her career record to three-for-three with Tim Tetrick in the bike behind a front-running score in her $55,500 division of the NYSS while Artrageous (by Art Major) and Jim Morrill Jr. went coast to coast in the other $54,500 division of the freshman filly stakes on the night for trainer Andrew Stafford.

New York Sire Stakes action returns to Saratoga next Tuesday, August 2 when two-year-old trotting colts come to town.

Live racing continues at the Spa on Thursday night with first post time set for 7:05 p.m.
