Mister X and Goldstar Badlands came up with winning efforts in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 events at Georgian Downs, and in doing so they found themselves in the role of the spoiler in their respective contests.

Mister X was a wire-to-wire winner in his assignment for driver Bob McClure and trainer Ken Oliver. The gelding hustled to the lead from Post 5 and sliced out splits of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:24 before scooting home in :28.4 to win by a neck over B N Bad in 1:52.4. Race favourite Tendtowin was third.

Shirley House, Kerry House and Kim Inglis share ownership on the four-year-old son of Mister Big-Maddam Luck. He’s put together an impressive record of 12-2-1 from 22 trips to the track this season, and he’s managed to stash away season’s earnings in excess of $54,000 in the process. The 16-time winner pushed his lifetime bankroll over $80,000 with the win. He paid $7.20.

Goldstar Badlands pulled off a 10-1 upset in his Preferred assignment for driver Scott Young and trainer Heather Toll. He tucked into the four-hole early while I Scoot Sam threw down fractions of :26.4, :55.1 and 1:23.1. Young moved his charge first-over on the way to the three-quarter pole, and the pacer used a :29.2 kicker to grind out the one-length tally over race favourite J M Jet Set in 1:52.3. Whosurpal was third.

Morley Bradshaw of Wilsonville, ON owns the five-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Rockin Lady. The victory was his fourth of the season and the 12th of his career. He’s closing in on $120,000 in lifetime earnings.
