Stylish Beachwear only made one start as a rookie, and it was a winning one. She’s now two starts into her sophomore season and she’s racked up a pair of wins in as many tries to remain undefeated for trainer/co-owner Mark Steacy.
The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere-Stylish Artist broke her maiden at Woodbine Racetrack last October before finding her way back to the sidelines, but she resurfaced in an overnight event at Mohawk Racetrack on July 14 and rallied to an impressive score in 1:54.3.
Stylish Beachwear was back in action Tuesday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, and once again she went home a winner thanks to a front-stepping score in 1:52.3.
James MacDonald had her parked and pressing the leaders at the quarter pole in :27.2, but she eventually worked her way to the lead in the backstretch. From there she sliced out splits of :56.3 and 1:24.4 before using a :28-second closing panel to win by 3-3/4 lengths over Parklane Glamorous. Third prize went to Danish N Coffee.
Tara Hills Stud Ltd bred and co-owns the pacing lass with Steacy, David McDonald and Howard Pearce. Her share of the $17,000 purse bumped her bankroll to $24,000.
