King Scores Training Triple At Honesdale

The Wayne County Fairgrounds in Honesdale, Pennsylvania welcomed the Pennsylvania Fair Circuit on Saturday (July 21) as three-year-olds were in action in Sire Stakes.

In the first $5,700 division of the colt trot, Order By Music was a winner for driver Kyle DiBenedetto, covering the mile in 2:08.4. Syl King leases and trains the winner, a son of Cantab Hall.

The second group was led across the wire by James McIlmurray’s Mulligan Bi, who trotted in 2:09.1. McIlmurray trains and drove the Andover Hall gelding to his second win of the season in nine starts.

Three groups of filly pacers were next, and Lima Beauty picked up her third win in nine days, pacing in 2:04.4 for driver Chris Shaw. Ruby Orr owns the Yankee Cruiser filly, while Bobby Rougeaux trains.

In the second division, Shootoutthelights, driven by Roger Hammer, outlasted stablemate Nuclearccino in 2:05.3. Hammer owns and trains the Dragon Again filly, now a five-time winner this season.

Steppin Hanover, by Allamerican Native, won her third straight fair stake, capturing the final division in 2:03.1. Shaw picked up his second win of the card, as Syl King earned the training win. King also co-owns with Joseph Benedetti and Ron Silletto.

Two $5,700 groups of colt pacers were up net, and Ticklish Terror earned a 2:06 win in the first division for driver Cory Kreiser. Julie Krenitsky owns the Western Terror colt, while Bob Krenitsky Jr trains.

Nucular Enemy, another member of the Hammer stable, won for the eighth time in 17 season starts, pacing in 2:03.3 to win the second division. Hammer owns the Nuclear Breeze gelding

The day concluded with two $5700 filly trotting Sire Stakes. Bloomfieldcantifly (Cantab Hall), leased and trained by Syl King, won the first split in 2:09.1 with Shaw in the bike. For both Shaw and King, it was win No. 3 on the day.

In the finale, RT USS Chilton, by RT Giant, won for Dave Brickell in 2:14. It was the second training win of the afternoon for Rougeaux. RT USS Chilton is owned by the Brocious Racing Stable.

Freshmen will test their skills on the Honesdale half-miler on Sunday, with nine races slated for a 1 p.m. start.
