Five-year-old gelded trotter In Secret was the top-selling horse at Sunday’s Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands Racetrack, as he sold for $140,000 to trainer Ron Burke and Burke Racing.

“He’s the only horse we came to buy,” Burke said. “I’m thrilled to get him.”

In Secret is a son of Deweycheatumnhowe out of the mare Secret Magic. His family includes millionaire Possess The Magic. For his career, In Secret has won 16 of 69 starts and earned $233,385.

The gelding raced in Canada his entire career until joining the stable of trainer Noel Daley in the U.S. in February. For Daley, In Secret won two of 12 races while hitting the board a total of eight times. Both of his wins with Daley came at Yonkers in conditioned races, but In Secret was second three times in the open and third once.

“I think he’s a Yonkers open trotter,” Burke said. “The idea is to keep him at Yonkers; I think he’ll be that kind of horse. If he gets a little bit better, we’ll see. Noel is good trainer, I’m just looking to maintain him and hope that he becomes a Yonkers open trotter.”

In Secret was among three horses to sell for at least $100,000 and a total of five sold for at least $75,000.

Following In Secret on the best-seller’s list were four-year-old gelded pacer JJ Flynn (Western Ideal-Allamerican Cognac) for $102,000 to Josh Green, agent; five-year-old gelded pacer Maxdaddy Blue Chip (Sportswriter-Ascending) for $100,000 to Allard Racing; three-year-old colt pacer Mr Varsity (Roll With Joe-Bronzer Babe) to Dylan Davis for $87,000; and five-year-old gelded pacer Guantanamo Bay for $75,000 to Carmine Fusco.
