Killer Thriller completed driver Brett MacDonald's Sunday night grand slam at Rideau Carleton Raceway with a career-best performance in the $8,400 Preferred Handicap Pace.

Parked through a :27.1 opening quarter, Killer Thriller cleared to the lead in front of the grandstand and carved out middle splits of :55.2 and 1:24 en route to a four-length victory. The six-year-old pacer's 30th career win was his fastest yet and reduced his lifetime mark by two-fifths of a second to 1:52.1.

The homebred Jeremes Jet gelding is trained by Karen Kroeger, who also co-owns with Gilles Plourde. He has now won one-third of his 12 races this year, including three of the last four Preferreds in Ottawa.

Sent postward as the 2-1 second choice on the toteboard, Killer Thriller paid $6.20 to win. Print Media edged out Windsun Cheyenne for the runner-up role.

Overlooked at odds of 13-1 in the co-featured $8,250 Preferred Handicap Trot, Raising Richard and driver Darrell Coville shot through the passing lane off a pocket trip and collared pacesetter Unabating (:28.4, :59.2, 1:27.3) for his 40th career victory, clocked in 1:57.2. Pasadena Star closed from last to show, out-finishing the popular first-over challenger Flying Isa N.

Ed McHale trains Raising Richard for owners John MacMillan and 2099551 Ontario Inc. The six-year-old Deweycheatumnhowe gelding now boasts seven wins from 19 seasonal starts.
